Pyruvate Decarboxylase
We are interested in the optimization of pyruvate decarboxylase
synthesis and activity at high temperature
and
low pH in bacteria. Currently, we are examining
a variety of bacterial sources for pyruvate decarboxylase
enzymes
and genes. Previous to our work, the
only bacterial pdc gene reported is from the Gram-negative
a-proteobacterium Zymomonas mobilis.
